Allen Garber retired from the United States Marshal's Service on December 31, 2006. He and his wife Kim are enjoying retirement and live in Minnesota. He occupies his time by playing hockey with his hockey buddies. He exercises almost every day. Kim and Al travel extensively in their travel trailer. The days at home are filled with morning coffee at the local American Legion and working around their river home. His life after work is a work in progress

This book chronicles the life and experiences of Al Garber; the fine people he has met; and the lessons he has learned. The 46 years of public service with the United States Army, The Federal Bureau of Investigation, The Champlin, Minnesota, Police Department, The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the United States Marshals Service are examined from the inside.

What the author is most thankful for are the fine people he has met and worked with along the way. These people are without exception hardworking, courageous, dedicated, and kind. The book will make many people smile ( and a few frown) when they read about experiences they either were a part of or heard about.

"I was fortunate to have met Al Garber when I needed a new commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. He had the qualities of diligence, honesty, and loyalty; the qualities I valued most."

Governor Jessee Ventura

"I always considered Al to be the FBI equivalent of General George Patton, an American hero with many of the same traits."

Retired FBI Agent Steve Gilkerson

"What I remember about all those schools and the thousands of students was the officer survival tactics that Al and Steve brought to these schools. ... I know from my 30 years of experience in law enforcement that Al and Steve saved many lives, lives that would have been lost without their training."

Retired Minneapolis Police Sergeant Mike Quinn
